In 1925, The Gold Rush (Gold Rush) was introduced, which has now become one of the greatest classics of the silent film era. Now, 100 years later, thanks to a special restoration, we can finally get closer to Chaplin's original vision.
The film uniquely existed in two versions: 1925 , original subtitled version 1942 , Chaplin's recreated version with music and narration
Today's restoration is the result of global cooperation, in which rare, complete frame 1925 materials were collected from archives around the world.
The project is supported by prestigious institutions such as Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, Roy Export, MoMA, BFI National Archive and many others.
The Gold Rush, renewed on the occasion of the centenary, will soon be available as close as possible to Chaplin's presentation in 1925.
Did you know? In 1942, Chaplin recreated the Golden Fever, subtracting all the inscriptions and adding narration. However, he withdrew all copies of the original version of 1925, in order to maintain only the new version.
Now, 100 years later, the restorers revived the spirit of the original version, including materials that have been lurking through the world's different archives for more than half a century.
